ab-initio light-matter group

Welcome to the Flick Group website!

Our group is interested in the electronic structure of a wide range of systems, with a focus on systems where the interaction between light and matter becomes strong. We study molecular systems and materials in optical cavities, as well as quantum defects in wide-band gap materials. To describe these systems, we develop theoretical methods, such as quantum-electrodynamical density-functional theory (QEDFT) and others.

For more information about specific projects, please visit our research page.

Our group is part of the Department of Physics at the City College of New York (CCNY). We are located in the Center for Discovery and Innovation (CDI) (google maps) on the first floor (Room 2.368) and are affiliated with the Center for Computational Quantum Physics (CCQ) at the Flatiron Institute. We welcome inquiries from prospective undergraduate students, graduate students and postdocs — see our join us page for open positions.
